Howard Head SafeFit® Wellness Program For Employees of Vail Health, Town of Vail, and Eagle County Government

Purpose: To provide screening, guidance, education and empowerment for Vail Health employees regarding their musculoskeletal conditions or concerns.  If the problem or injury is work related, you are instructed to pursue the Worker's Compensation / Employee Injury Path with Occupation Health Services. 


SafeFit® Wellness Program is provided to the Employee only - We cannot provide sevices to Spouses, Children, Dependents, or any Family members.

After you create an account on the website, sign back in to create an appointment.  You will NOT be called regarding this. 

Vail Health and Eagle County Employees:  Please use your company email addresses for sign in.  This will be used as proof of current employment.

Town of Vail Employees:  Please use your Town of Vail email for sign in if you have one, or a personal email address can be used.  The HR manager will automatically be sent an email confirming your current employment status.

  • Muscular conditions
  • Back pain (Overuse, strains)
  • Minor bruises (Struck by objects)
  • Extremity evaluation (Fingers, Toes)
  • Non -specific joint (knee, shoulder, ankle, hip, elbow, neck) pain
    • Strains/sprains
    • Repetitive motion
 
Exclusion
  • Medical Conditions
  • Lacerations/abrasions/stitches
  • Worker's Compensation / Work Related Injuries
  • Concussions / neurological condition
  • Orthopedic injuries
    • Fractures
    • Non weight bearing
    • Significant deformity/swelling
    • Post operative status
  • Burns, rashes
  • Allergic reactions
  • BBP exposures
  • Chemical exposures
  • Facial trauma
    • Eyes, teeth
  • Currently in physical therapy at Howard Head 
  • Have a new prescription for physical therapy

FAQ
Yes. You must complete and meet the SafeFit® inclusion criteria. Appointment are self-scheduled on a space available basis. If your condition is work related, you should report the problem to occupational health.
You, as the employee make the decision as to what type of treatment you would like to receive. There are three options. If the condition is work related, you need to report the incident to your manager and have the option to schedule an appointment with Occupational Health. For issues that are not work related you may choose to see a doctor, a Howard Head physical therapist or you may schedule a wellness appointment in the SafeFit® program.
No, as providers in a wellness-based program, SafeFit® staff does not give work restrictions. If a SafeFit® staff provider determines that you need a higher level of medical care, they will advise you to make an appointment with Occupational Health if your injury is work related, or a physician of your choice if not work related.
No. SafeFit® is a voluntary wellness program provided free of charge to Vail Health employees. Appointments should be scheduled during your time off from work.
If the injury is work related, treatment through SafeFit® is not appropriate. All work related injuries should be dealt with through the occupational health department. If the injury or musculoskeletal problem is not work related, you are appropriate for SafeFit® and no Employee Injury Report needs to be filed.
No. A physical therapy session at Howard Head Sports Medicine is a minimum 40 minutes one-on-one time with a licensed physical therapist. Conversely, a SafeFit® appointment is based on 20 minute intervals with various providers (physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, athletic trainers, exercise physiologists and massage therapists may all be involved). SafeFit® providers are frequently overseeing more than one employee at a time. In giving you a prescription for physical therapy, your physician is requesting the level of care he or she has grown accustomed to with Howard Head Sports Medicine.
No, SafeFit® is a voluntary wellness program offered at no cost to Vail Health, Town of Vail, and Eagle County employees who meet the SafeFit® inclusion criteria. It is one of the exceptional benefits provided by Howard Head Sports Medicine that is not part of your medical insurance.
